Your student’s* ability to succeed in the transition to online schooling will heavily depend on how well they follow a daily routine, which will morph into daily habits. The first few weeks are particularly essential for success.
We have carefully developed a routine that we believe will lead to success with your help, active participation and continuous feedback for improvement.
It is vital to keep up with the normal after school routine during this period.
Ensure that your student gets sufficient play and exercise after the school day. If you can go out, encourage them to go out and play. If you cannot go out, there are numerous YouTube P.E. sessions that you can follow along as a family. Do NOT reach out for the TV remote or the PlayStation right after school. Go out and play!
Follow your normal homework routines with your student*. Please note that there will be no physical student* diaries during online school. You will need to give your daily feedback using Classter.
Enforce your usual after-homework routines around access to TV, video games and other modes of entertainment. We recommend more interactive modes of entertainment that you can do together with your student* especially during this lockdown period e.g. board games, reading and discussing books, video games- only if you will be playing with them, as well as watching and discussing the daily news, etc.
Review each day with your student* about how school went and what challenges they faced. Please share any and all challenges that you and your student* faced during the day. The success of our online school depends on your constant feedback.
We appreciate and take all feedback seriously - and we usually follow up with quick action if need be. Anonymous feedback is also welcome. Please see the Contacts & Feedback page on how to give feedback.
Your student* needs adequate rest before they get up bright and early for the next school day. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine recommends that children aged 6–12 years should regularly sleep 9–12 hours per 24 hours and teenagers aged 13–18 years should sleep 8–10 hours per 24 hours.1 Follow your usual routine around bedtime i.e. prayers, bedtime stories, etc.
